Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, who has faced accusations related to his former client Jeffrey Epstein, strongly stated on Newsmax on Friday that he would like the House Oversight Committee to call him in to testify publicly. He also demanded that the names of those accusing him and others be made public.
āIām delighted that there are public hearings,ā Dershowitz told āBianca Across the Nation.ā āI invite them to call me. Iām happy to testify.ā
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have agreed to testify before the committee. Hillary Clinton has called for the hearings to be conducted in public.
Alan Dershowitz noted that the former president is listed in connection with Jeffrey Epstein, but the names of Clintonās accusers have been redacted.
āClintonās name is on the list,ā Dershowitz argued. āIt says Bill Clinton, not a victim in Epsteinās case, claimed she was invited to an orgy with Clinton but did not attend.ā
āYou know, again, letās have a public hearing, but letās name these accusers,ā he added. āThese accusers have no right to accuse and then hide behind anonymity.ā
Dershowitz stated that in his own case, āit says not a minor,ā so that factor should not be considered when deciding whether to release the identities of the accusers.
āWhat right does an adult woman have to level an accusation of false, totally false accusation against me and hide behind redaction and anonymity?ā
Alan Dershowitz was part of Jeffrey Epsteinās legal team in 2007, during which they negotiated a non-prosecution agreement in Florida. He later continued to represent Epstein as civil suits against him expanded.
Dershowitz was no longer serving as Epsteinās legal counsel in July 2019, when Epstein was facing charges of sex trafficking involving minors.
One month later, Epstein died in a New York correctional facility, and his death was ruled a suicide.
InĀ an interview with Newsmax, Dershowitz stated that it is āMcCarthyismā and āunconstitutionalā not to release the names of the accusers.
āIām delighted that weāre going to see public hearings,ā he said. āLet them call me to the public hearings. Iāll tell them the truth about what happened.ā
Dershowitz added that he wonāt claim any privileges.
āI wonāt claim any inability to remember,ā he said. āI remember everything, and I know a great deal about it. But they wonāt call me because theyāre not interested in the truth. Theyāre interested only in gossip.ā
However, the ongoing controversy about Epstein āis really not about Jeffrey Epstein anymore,ā said Dershowitz.
āThis is about the worst form of McCarthyism that has afflicted America since the 1950s,ā he said.
Dershowitz continued that the Justice Department has released a list of āprominent names,ā but āevery single name of every accuser has been blacked out.ā
āSo, for example, letās turn to me,ā Dershowitz said. āIt says blank, blank, blank, blacked out. Stated she gave him a massage on Epsteinās plane. Parenthesis. Not a minor.ā
āI was never on Epsteinās plane with a young woman,ā he insisted.
āSo letās understand that this is an adult, a woman who was on Epsteinās plane, she says,ā said Dershowitz. āI was never on Epsteinās plane with a young woman. I never got a massage. This is total defamation, a total lie.ā
But he added that he canāt disprove the claim ābecause they wonāt give me her name.ā
Dershowitz also responded to allegations suggesting that Epstein had connections with Israelās Mossad.
āItās an absurd theory. He was not a Mossad agent,ā said Dershowitz.
Dershowitz also insisted that Epstein āwas not suicidal.ā
āThe lawyers told me that he was told he had a good chance of getting out on bail Monday or Tuesday, following the weekend when he allegedly killed himself, so thereās a good argument that he didnāt kill himself,ā said Dershowitz. āBut then you have to ask yourself, who killed him?ā
